Killed in Action on the 24th July 1916, John Bell was born in Dromara. Unfortunately little is known about him other than that his Father’s name was Samuel and that he had a sister by the name of Kate Nicholl.
“Official notification has been received the Gunner John Bell, Royal Field Artillery, was killed in action on the 24th ult. Deceased was a Reservist and prior to being called up was employed at Sandy Row Tramway Depot. His time with the colours would have expired on the 20th of the present month, and had he lived till then he would have completed 13 years’ service. He was a brother of Mrs. Nicholl, 153 McClure Street, Ormeau Road.”
