A reservist Private James Donaghy, Royal Irish Rifles, has returned home to skerry minus his middle finger on his right hand which was shattered by a splinter from a shrapnel shell at the Aisne on 15th October after he had been only 2 days in the trenches. He speaks highly of the medical corps, In a few days he will join the fighting line again. (Down Recorder 07/11/1914)
